The campsite is situated on Bloukrans Klein-bewarea in the lesser-known region of the Moordenaarskaroo, south of Sutherland. This unique area is nestled between Laingsburg, Merweville, and Sutherland, serving as the catchment for the Buffels River, which famously caused the catastrophic flood in 1981. Bloukrans wild camping offers an escape to a wild and quiet place, perfect for nature lovers seeking to immerse themselves in the serenity of the Karoo landscape. The campsite is positioned on the southern plateau and has spectacular vistas surrounded by delicate flora characteristic of the succulent/Nama Karoo. It is the perfect place from which to do day hikes, birding or just relaxing. The farm has recently been granted full nature reserve status by Cape Nature – it’s all about protecting and conserving the land for the future!
