Cobham Campsite is a peaceful, well-kept campsite nestled in the southern Drakensberg, within the Cobham Nature Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal. Surrounded by rolling grasslands, rivers, and dramatic mountain views, it’s an ideal base for hiking, fly-fishing, birding, and quiet nature escapes. The campsite offers grassy stands, basic ablutions, and a true sense of space and solitude—perfect for campers looking to unplug and enjoy the Berg at a slower pace. Useful Info - No pets of any kind are allowed in the reserve. - Fire in the reserve has to be constantly guarded against, as it can do untold harm to the environment. Visitors are reminded that no fires may be lit and care needs to be taken with discarding of cigarette ends. - A small shop at the office sells maps, badges, refreshments, sweets and other basic foodstuffs. Groceries can be purchased in Underberg. - Late arrivals must make prior arrangements with the office. Entrance gate open and close at the following times: - Summer (1 October - 31 March) 05:00 - 19:00 - Winter (1 April - 30 September) 06:00 - 18:00

Useful tip, when choosing a campsite, right at the bottom on the campsite there is a huge fallen over tree, on the other side of that tree, closest to the river, is the best campsite, on our opinion. Most people miss it, because it's not signposted. Great hikes, great campsites. Lovely spot.

Underberg in general is a very special place. Cobham Campsite takes it to the next level. Situated on the river, with a big grass field with the back drop of the Southern Berg.
