Western Cape Wild Camp Spots
Hi all, my mates and I are on the hunt for some new camp sites, particulalry wild ones. We've explored and visited nearly all the regular/formal campsites across Ceres, Citrusdal, Cederberg and the Karoo but we're now in search of something fresh. We've wild camped many a time before so we understand the intricacies and also the delicate nature of keeping the best gems low-profile. Just figured there may be some notes/spots we could swap. Would appreciate any input.
Beautiful Gonarezhou
We recently visited Gonarezhou entering via Beitbridge border post. The border was much better than we expected. None of our 4 vehicles were inspected. The process is a little intimidating but managable. At all the police check points we were simply waved by. Shopping in Triangle and Chiredzi was a pleasure. So too filling up with fuel. The drive to the park was easy, but slow going inside. Several spots required low range for slow enough driving. The Park itself is incredibly beautiful. All campsites are unique in their own way. Its one of the last gems of Africa!
SAN Parks Booking Tips
Hi all, I waited until SAN Parks opened their bookings for 11 months ahead by 7:30 in the morning, all campsites that I wanted in the Kgalagadi were gone. I see that telephone bookings open a day earlier than online. Is the only way to get a booking in the Kgalagadi to wait on the phone for two hours on opening morning? Any tips would be appreciated!
Diesel Availability: Cape Town to Drakensberg
Hi All, At the end of the month I'm cruising from Cape Town to Drakensberg, via Colesberg - Elliot - Underberg. Anybody know the availability of Diesel on this route? Any info would be much appreciated as I may include some Jerry's in my setup if Diesel is scarce. Shot!
