About this campsite

Baviaanskloof Laaste Kamp offers rustic bush campsites in a wild, unspoilt setting, 1 km from the Western gate of the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve, a World Heritage Site in the Eastern Cape. We are the last camp before you enter the Kloof from Uniondale or Willowmore, at the end of approximately 97 km of scenic gravel road. Accommodation: Choose between bush campsites and our new A-frame glamping unit. All sit in an environmentally sensitive, rugged and isolated part of the Baviaanskloof wilderness. The glamping unit has a low-wattage solar power bank for LED lights and for charging phones and cameras. What to expect: Laaste Kamp gives nature lovers a base to explore a vast landscape of rugged mountains, deep jagged gorges and abundant wildlife. Guests have access to designated braai areas, a plunge pool and a rock bonfire pit. The shaded areas have green grass. The Historic House is 1 km from the campsite. Camp Guidelines Ablutions: Flush toilets and basins. Bring your own toilet paper. Showers: Solar-heated, so they are best used in the afternoon when the sun is out. Connectivity: No power and no Wi-Fi. There is no reception, apart from an occasional MTN signal. Wildlife: Do not leave the campsite at night. Leopards, buffalo and rhinos occasionally break through the fences. Waste: There are no waste management or recycling facilities, so take your waste with you. Baboons and monkeys live nearby. Free waste bags are available from the camp manager. Fires: Bring your own wood. Fires are allowed only in the braai facilities, as the unmanaged veld fire risk is high. Noise: No loud music. Wildlife lives in the reserve. Liability: Use of all facilities is entirely at your own risk.
