About this campsite

Named after the peak that is sandwiched between the towering Champagne Castle and Cathkin mountains, Monk's Cowl is the gateway to some of the most magnificent mountains in the Drakensberg. The mountains, as well as the ancient, magical Yellowwood forests, are easily accessible for anything from an easy 2km walk to a challenging 40km+ trail run/overnight hike (plenty of caves in the area). Loads of rockpools to swim in, panoramic views of the mountains from the campsite and lots of trees for shade during the KZN Summer months.

Access Notes

4x4 required to access the campsites without power (less populated and better views)
