Freestyle camping in a pine forest, which means you pick your spot rather than being assigned a numbered stand. Good if you want space and quiet. Worth knowing in advance if you were expecting a marked-out site with services at it. The ablution block is hand-built, three full bathrooms, lit by solar. A wash-up area for dishes sits outside it. There is a central kitchen tent with a freezer, plug points and a kettle, so there is somewhere to charge and somewhere to keep things cold even though the stands themselves are unserviced. Campers can use the facilities over at the tented chalets, including the playground and splash pool. There are farm animals around and you are welcome to meet and feed them, which usually settles the question of what to do with kids for an hour. The pines do something to the sound of the place. Beyond that, the area is set up for getting out: hiking trails, 4x4 routes, mountain biking and adventure riding on the bikes. An outdoor fireplace is on site and a hot tub is available as an optional extra.
